Partnerships Career Power-Up: Write to Win in Partnerships
Steve Quan is the VP, Global Strategic Partners at Expedia Group. He works in Expedia Group's Travel Partner Group division which is the team that finds, signs up, onboards, markets, and supports the lodging and travel (air, car, rail) and local activities supplier partners across the world on which the Expedia Group business relies. His team specifically focuses on the top global hotel chains. He’s a former lawyer and spent over 15 years in BD & Partnerships at companies like AOL, Rosetta Stone, WeWork, etc.
In this Partner School event, he'll share all the elements and frameworks that he believes are necessary for effective business writing. Everything they do — from getting approval on proposed key deal terms in a contract negotiation, to providing prep materials for a CEO to CEO meeting, to requesting resource allocation and/or advocating for a controversial position against other internal stakeholders — requires them to be master communicators to achieve their goals. He'll share insights on over 25 years of what's worked to help achieve outcomes from startups to large corporations.
Some topics we'll cover:
- Tailoring your writing for the immediate (and potential downstream) audience/reader
- Presentation matters -- choosing the optimal layout or format to achieve your desired outcome
- Drafting tips
- Business writing as a tool to win the "long game" and build your personal & team brand
